Hello all,
New to the Triple M Register but decades old MG enthusiast. Have owned two TC's, a 47 and 49, totally restored but moved onto Healey's. Well finally coming back into the fold and looking for a J2. There is one fully restored on ebay , white body, red cycle fenders and red wheels.
Other than the fact not crazy about the color combo, appears to be done rather well. Weird though, wheels almost look smaller than 19's but maybe it's the tires ? But, I know TC's, not J2's. Don't know how to attach a link to this but have posted a couple of pictures. Know price is way too high based on what I have seen but what is the groups opinion on this J2 ? Was white even a color you could get for a J2 ?
Many thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike

Welcome to the Triple-M Forum which is the source of much information on our ohc cars.

That J2 does look very smart and I note the brakes have been upgraded to 12 inch from the standard 8 inch brakes fitted to J2s. I do not think white was a standard factory colour for Triple-M cars; it was standard for later cars e.g. I own an original factory supplied MGB GT V8!

You are showing good judgement in your choice, the J2 is a very popular model and there are a few currently for sale.

Lew Palmer, MMM Registrar, will be pleased to hear from you, he might know of some J2s currently for sale in the USA.

Mike has been in touch and although I am not immediately aware of a reasonably priced (?) J2, I have given him some places to look.

Nine J2s were supplied in white. Henri de Jong’s J4238 was one, for instance. This particular one also had white wheels from new (and does again these days), so no duo tone which was basically the standard, I believe.

I should have added to my earlier post that for a small increase in cost customers could choose what colour they wanted their new MG to be painted.

Mike, I may have J3017 or PA0531 for sale, contact me for details. I'm in Ontario Canada. Reason for sale, old age, too many MGs and too many MMM cars. Bob Grunau 905-274-4136
