I note that there is an advert for this car on www.prewarcar.com
The car is fitted with an AC 2 litre engine - the performance must be interesting!

Was it built by the same chap who built Cognac, which is a 1991cc AC engined GN and it aint 'are quick, currently owned by the husband of the VSCC President? The name was built from the constructors name, which I can't recall, CO, GN from GN likewise AC from the engine.

Hi, The original builder was called Cohen. When I last saw it at Oulton Park in about 1983, it was being driven by Ron Footit, if memory serves. Garry |

Ron Footitt ran it for many years very successfully. I met him a number of times at our local VSCC natters when he lived in the Manchester area , probably in the 60s / 70s . He used to trailer it behind an M G B GT. I often wondered about the name Cognac so thanks , Garry , for the explanation. |

Yes that's right I remember Ron Footit having it, I think it then went to Trevor Johns and then about 3 or 4 years ago Tony Lees brought it. They have all campaigned it with gusto thankfully.

I wonder what the MAGNAC stands for it it MAGNA and C or does the AC stand for the engine, but the GN couldn't be the chassis or is it? The MA what is that or do the M and the G refer to the chassis? Perhaps it is MAGN(A)C with the A referring to both bits.

Yes George, what I am trying to work out why it is called a MAGNAC. It is an L type which is one of the cars with the designation Magna so have they adopted a combination of the word Magna and the letters AC combining the two As into one? What other explanation is there?
