I'd welcome any info members can provide on some cars that came to New England for the 1991 Raid. As well as a few others where I've been unable to identify the model.

I have moved this topic as in future it may be impossible to link replies to pictures that my no longer be accessible. If there are specific pictures from your album about which you would like information then post the image on the "Seeking information ..." forum (ideally one topic per image) so that members can add relevant information to that specific image. This will make so much more sense in the future.

This reminds me, I need to scan my photos from when the 1991 Raid visited our house for a party.
I believe the brown NE Magnette shown driving in the paddock at Lime Rock is Mike Allison's NE replica.
Coincidentally, the car in photos _MG_7643_DxO_2, _MG_7648_DxO_2, and _MG_7646_DxO_2 was in our garage at the time of the raid. We sold it on to the Raders a few years ago after having owned it since maybe the VERY early '80s. I remember bringing it home in actual bushel baskets from a barn a few towns away from us when I was a kid.

Mike Allison’s car is NA0995 which carries the NE style bodywork.
There are some very well known cars in the various photos including the much raced K3 single seater K3021 which is still owned by the Beer family. It has not been seen racing for quite a few years now.

Not that easy to find the 1991 cars scattered about your MG file !!
However, as I was there on the event with my M type, here are a few answers.
TJ 6409 NA belonging to the late Ken Abrahams
RX 7984 M-Type belonging to Peter Thornley from Georgia - well he was in 1991.
BYU 271 NA Allingham belonging to Rosemary Bayne-Powell [not Phillip]
This car went on the 2006 Raid as well. Pic. taken at Lime Rock.
VD 3010 L-Type belonging to Bryan Ditchman, also at Lime Rock.
BKJ 398 belonged to the late Ken Chevis - he had another car on the event as well.
The Airline - don't remember that at all - but it does have a 1991 Raid badge on the front.

I thought there was a group photo of all the Raid cats.
In any case, the Airline is NA0848 (the only NB Airline ever built). At the time it belonged to Dave Lawley and after a re-restoration in red and black livery, has gone underground (owner unknown). About 10 years ago it was sold at auction for US$398,000.

Here are a few more, Evan.
At Silverstone, Car No 26 JB3852 Mike Allison's Monte Carlo NA 0307 in it's pretty horrible "Blue Whale" form. Now rebuilt in its lovely Monte Carlo state. Officially owned by Mike's daughter Jane, but she lets him drive it now and then.
Car 12 OJ9483 Geoff Coles' J2/J4 "The Red Car". A J2 with some genuine J4 bits. Not sure where it is now. In Germany, I think.
JB4606 Genuine NE. NA0519. Been in the Beer family collection for years.
Car 35. Captioned as "K3 Magnette Special" Genuine K3. K3021. Ex. Don Pitt. Fitted with lightweight racing body. In Beer family collection.
VD3010 "D'Artagnan". Bryan Ditchman's very faithful copy of the 1935 Three Musketeer Trials cars. L Type chassis, blown N Type engine bored out to 1408cc with Marshal 87 blower.
Car 52. JB7963. PB0633. Ex Dorothy Stanley-Turner Le Mans car. Owned at the time my the late Tony Miles. Now living in Switzerland.

I was involved with the 1991 raid having the job of getting the cars off the boat (and later back on) and to the hotel. Also led the cars through New Jersey and up the Hudson River. I can't believe I can't find the many pictures I took, and I wish Tony or someone could get a list of all the cars and owners from the raid. What a great group. Although someone had a terrible run in with a Moose.

The moose event involved Peter Hague with an 18/80 MG2124
He had been off one evening to see some Rileys - so I suppose that was the punishment.!
There were a couple of group photos. One was in Poughkeepsi [Pedants do not have to comment on spelling] and the other was at a guys home [whose name now eludes me] he was something to do with MG importing. He had a personal MG museum - including am MG sportsmans saloon.
I have pics of these events - but as this was well before digital gizmos, they are all on slides. Currently my slide scanner is bust - when I can get a new one I will scan them and put them here.
I can do a list of entrants & cars - but it will be a day or two |

One group picture was at the home of Chris and Laurie Nowlan. When just a young buck used to work for Gerry Goguen and later for Moss Motors. Gerry has the museum.

To date there about 107 Vintage M.G.s known and only a few of those are not on the road, there is no definitive number as one owner has several chassis and I certainly was never able to count them when I visited him 2008 and 2010. There are quite a few in New Zealand and as Kevin knows most of those, if not all, are not on the road. so to get 10% together would mean mean 11 or so cars. There have been many occasions when that number has also been reached but when the most number of cars gathered together happened were the 50th Vintage Register anniversary at Abingdon 10 years ago and the Royal Windsor M.G. Heritage Festival in 2009.

At the Royal Windsor MG Heritage Festival in 2009, there were 23 vintage MGs 'on parade' out of the 102 known surviving original cars.Even more remarkable when you consider that 29 of that 102 are cars outside the UK. At the time it was expected that this would not be exceeded in the foreseeable future, but with the MG Centenary coming up in 2023, who knows?
