I have a photo in the Register archive of a blue J Type with front mounted blower and the road plate (or perhaps just an identity clue?) J 12369. On the right side of the bonnet is the word "CAWDLES" in white capitals.
Ring any bells?

Apparently: An Irish registration and it's a J2 & the chassis number is known. The car made a few appearances at Silverstone (as a spectator) 20-25 years ago before moving to Newzealand. The car was for sale in Wellington a year or so ago, was sold & it's now believed the car may have left that country. The current whereabouts of the car are unknown (unless someone on here can shed any further light), but people are waiting for it to re-surface.
Bob, a bit more info is available & will be forwarded after it's been unearthed.
Regards

Speaking of J2's with names, anyone remember "The Leprechaun"? It used to be raced in VSCC events about 40 years ago. The car was green, and if I remember rightly, unblown. It often ran with the bonnet side panels removed. |

Hello Bob I thought I recognised this car,it is the Murray Watson J2 Special in J4 style which was first mentioned in the February 2007 SF MMM notes and we subsequently found was taken to New Zealand by Murray Watson in the 1990s.See letter in March 2007 SF. I have some other photos if they are of interest.

I think you are right. The car went well, as I remember.
With regard to Cawdles, if it is the Muray Watson car, I remember having a demonstration in it maybe 15 years ago with Murray at the wheel which was, shall we say, inspirational. |

Thanks everyone for contributing, including those who rang me (Garry Waiting and of course that "bloke down the road!.
I now know that this is J 2166 which we have on the Register list. If I hadn't been so dim I would have remembered the NZ connection.
Thanks again Bob Clare |
