This may be come too late but the chassis plate for 2M 3135 is for sale on eBay as MG M TYPE BRASS CHASSIS PLATE MMM Item number: 380022239660 . Is this the one for an M-type owned by Keith Latus ? Does this car still exist ? Sale ends this evening.

Sam,
Surely the plate now only has value as memrobillia. The seller has honestly stated the plate is all that remains of the car and since the chassis determines a car's identity isn't 2M 3135 lost for ever.

Jan,
I make the observation because the car is listed (or at least was listed in 1993)on the Register and I thought that I should speak up at once in case the present owner might want the original chassis plate.
Of course the Register may contain cars which have since sadly been broken up.I assumed this no longer happened but it makes me wonder what became of the chassis.
I am in no way implying that the seller has been anything less than perfectly honest and if a chassis plate for my car comes up on eBay I hope somebody will urgently draw it to my attention before the sale ends and it becomes just a piece of memorabilia.

Bob Clare is aware.
Where a car's number is stamped on a chassis in a place normally concealed by bodywork, an original chassis plate lends 'corroborative verisimilitude' - to echo G & S.
At the rate at which it is being bid, it will be an expensive item of memorabilia, though I have known a dashboard dealer plaque fetch more than ú500 at auction.
Takes all sorts.![](images/icon_smile.gif) |

2M 3135 might still exist because the Triple-M Registrar had communication with, an un-named, person in 1999 who said he owned it.
