Spending much of today stripping of the spare wheel carrier "tripod" from my PB I was surprised to find no red paint ... evident elsewhere on body parts. Were they body colour matched or were they black ?

I am not certain but I believe the P type spare wheel carrier was always painted black.

I have rebuilt a couple of P types, one of which had never been dismantled, and the only traces of paint were black.
