I am making up a new engine dip stick for my M type using one of the excellent cast handles from Ian Judd. Can someone please give me the dimensions from the bottom of the handle to the high and low marks. So I can do a test, how much oil is there to each of these.
Hello Sam, the length of the dipstick is 10.25 inch. May I suggest you put in the requisite amount of oil then mark the dipstick. You then illiminate any guess work. Regards Rich.
Interesting.how much oil is required in an M type sump?. The handbook says 8 pints the same as a moggy.However the sump on a M is somewhat larger capacity than the moggy.
The measurement from the top is the same on mine at 7and 1/8th inches, followed by a mark which is 1/8th" wide. I also have a bottom mark, this is 3/4" from the bottom followed by a mark 1/8" wide. Total length 10 and 1/4"
