Does anyone have a set of arms and connecting rods suitable for a centrally-mounted windscreen wiper motor? If not a complete set, then I would be interested in buying any components you might have to eventually make up a set.

I was lucky enough to get a set of these five or six years ago when one of our esteemed members had need of some for his own car(s) and made some extra ones for sale.

Surely someone could take up the challenge of making some more? While way beyond my skill level to make them they don’t, on the face of it, look too difficult to make.

Thank for pointing this out Simon. I have emailed Bill Traill.

Incidentally, if you look carefully at Sam's photo of the J2 with the Cloche-hatted passenger, you can see a wire running to the centrally-mounted electric wiper. The wire is crudely draped around the windscreen, suggesting a DIY job rather than a factory upgrade or original fitment.

Indeed, Nigel, the rather crude wiring is very apparent but remember, this is J0251, the J2 prototype, and it was probably constantly being modified. Here’s the full version of Sam's photo -

And here it is wearing swept wings sometime later in 1933.

Nigel, Willie Mckenzie in Poole, Dorset makes these complete. I bought a set from him last year at the MG spares day. Tel: 01202 625242. good luck, Nick.

Nick,
Could you post a picture of what you got from Willie as when I asked him about them he said he didn’t do them. He did offer to make some if he had a pattern - hence the offer in this thread - https://www.triple-mregister.org/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18881

Simon, Willie must have picked this wiper kit up elsewhere, before I bought it at the show. The other who may help is Paul Beck, ( Vintage Supplies) on 01692 406510. good luck. Nick

Nick,

Can you post a photo of yours, just to be clear what we're talking about?

I purchased my centre mounted wiper set from Gregory's Autoparts - I am not cure whether he is still in business?

The windscreen is the early type with with the wire to the motor running outside the right hand side of the frame and with weaker support brackets that did not have the later extended arms.

No George, (Dave?) Gregory has retired and sold his stock I think to Barry Walker.
