With the kind permission of Barry Walker, Dave Shattock has sent me a scanned catalogue (dated 1979) when Barry's business was based in Chislehurst. You can download the catalogue from "Document downloads / Catalogues".
It makes fascinating reading. Bear in mind when looking at the price list, inflation since 1979 has been 500%!

Dave Shattock has scanned a Sports & Vintage catalogue from 1978 and with Mike's kind permission I have added it to "Document downloads / Catalogues"

Likewise Colin!

But thanks to all concerned in providing a look back at the old catalogues. Fascinating reading, very nostalgic and enjoyable too.
,
Looking at the Bone Catalogue, stating if you want information regarding spares, to send a stamped addressed envelope for a reply which was the norm back then.( front axle £9 ! )
How things have changed, usually we can obtain the information almost instantaneously at the touch of a few buttons in a way we could never have imagined back in the 60s and 70s.

Best wishes,

Chris

I’m getting a '404' when trying to access the S&V catalogue.

Ah! Hadnall 458 - I remember the number so well. I also recall (wish I could find it) an early S&V 'mission statement' (very advanced thinking there) in which Mike simply said words to the effect that his aim for the business was to supply the parts that enthusiasts needed and in doing so make an honest living for himself and his family. Says it all, really!

I must be getting ancient - I have originals for both the S & V and Barry Walker catalogues.

Both were a valuable source of information for the various rebuilds I have completed.

I well remember the wooden shed where Mike started his Sports and Vintage Spares business in Shrewsbury, was it the late 60s? Full marks to him and the other suppliers who have served us so well over the years.

Thanks to Frank Ashley, there are now three more catalogues in the download section. One from Terry and Barry Bone, one from Sports and Vintage and another from Barry Walker.

It’s funny how we remember these old numbers that we used to call regularly when trying to keep our cars going. The one I remember from 1972/73 was Cleish Hills 224. Anyone recognise this, and therefore the car I drove then?
