Gordon - to get the best power & clean running we ended up backing the advance right off, but it has to be done on a rolling road.

I was hoping to get the other car out this season, but I doubt if it will be ready.... Next year!

Many thanks for the explanation. Must now save the pennies and go back to the rolling road and relook at the ignition setting. I fear it might mean ultimately rebuilding the advance mechanism in the Scintilla Vertex magneto but at least you can build them to get awide variation in shapes to the advance curve!
