Thanks Nigel for your suggestion it looks as if that could be a solution but the price! ouch!! especially as I only really need the central brass terminal with the carbon contact. Cheers, Mike.

At that price you’d be as well to get a second one as a spare

Hi Ross, Yes I'm talking to him but he cant help with the original type cap. What I need is someone who has a damaged cap which still has a usable central terminal with its carbon contact. still hoping! cheers, Mike.

Mike , the much cheaper vertical exit cap shares the same contacts. Also the earlier D61 distributor cap can fit with a little fettling . Geoff |

Mike , I think that the vertical exit caps were used on pre 1930 Riley /Rotax DE6 and DF6 but the DQH6 only used the horizontal exit, hence the H .The D61 was a Lucas model and the caps will fit, but I have only seen vertical exit.Geoff[ this is DE6 with vertical exit D61 cap]

Just guessing from photos that on the L vertical exit will foul the bonnet?

Thanks Geoff for the info. Dave, Your right it does! that's one of the problems, I need to investigate the possibility of the vertical exit option with some form of right angle connectors for the HT leads but it doesn't look like a viable solution . Cheers! Mike.

Hi Mike, Simon has suggested that you purchase two, "one as a spare." ;-) Well, here's two: one brown and one black. Best, Chris

Hi Chris, The black one looks interesting, what price are you asking for it? Cheers, Mike.

Hi Mike,
I apologize both for not being able to get back to you sooner as well as not reading carefully your original post. I understand that what you really want is simply the central terminal. I removed one easily from one of my caps and is very easy to make. Requires 3/8" hex brass stock, carbon rod and a lathe. There is certainly no need to purchase a cap. Just the postage to ship mine would cost five times the cost to make one. I'm afraid I was so eager to help one in need that I lacked the care to read what you need. Best, Chris |

Hi Chris, Thanks for your posts. The central terminal in my cap and the rotor arm have been bodged long ago by someone who it seems couldn't get the correct parts. At first I thought replace the whole cap but I now realise that is not so easy and am contemplating remaking the brass screw as you mention. How does one attach the carbon to the brass screw head and maintain electrical continuity? Notwithstanding the above, If you are prepared to sell one of you caps I would be interested in buying the black one, either to replace mine if the above is unsuccessful or as a spare. What price would you be asking for it? any idea of shipping costs to the UK? Thanks again for you helpful input. Mike.
