Hi All, whilst walking round my local market I came across a box of MG related Lapel badges (which I bought) but these 2 I have never come across befor. Does anyone know what they are?
The second one is just like those fitted to a VA dashboard. They are missing from my car so I am not sure of how they would be fitted, having viewed your rear pic.
The MG inspection badges were originally produced during the war. They were worn by Government officials who would visit the factory to inspect the production of military vehicles, etc. I’ve attached a photo of one from my collection which is original. The mounting on the rear of mine is via a large brass pin. Yours looks different. Could you add a photo of the rear of that badge please. These badges have been reproduced in recent times so it’s possible it’s one of those?
The other badge I haven’t seen before with that type of fixing. It looks like a button possibly from a guards uniform. I’d also be interested to see the other badges you picked up.
Couple more pictures for you. 1st is all the bits I picked up. 2nd is the rear of the Inspection badge (it looks like one fixing has broken off. the 3rd is the difference in size of the small'button' and what I think is your VA dash badge which has a threaded stub on the rear to fix
