Just been reading "LMS Locomotive Design and Development" by Tim
Hillier-Graves (published by Pen and Sword),about Tom Coleman the chief draughtsman of Sir William Stanier who was heavily involved in the design of the "Princess Coronation " pacifics.
Tom was an enthusiastic car driver and page 51 in the book show him
driving a vintage MG,to my unskilled eyes an 18/80 MK 2 2 seater.
The registration is MG 427 (with possibly a 4th digit which I cant make out due to shade.
Has anyone any knowledge of this car?.
Another page shows him driving a "1930 Lagonda" which I would swear blind is a Riley !!

This car is indeed an MG 18/80 mk 2 and was for a long time in the Doune Motor museum in Scotland. Now the car resides in Holland with Bert vd Linden.
I also own a Two seater MG 469, so there are two in The Netherlads.

I will pass on the information to Bert when i See him.
Best regards Rudie Vinke

That's a good news story.I didnt like to try reproducing the photo from the book, possible copyright issues.I think the
photo came from Tom's family.Pen and Sword, the publishers, seem to be very approachable with regard to helping people who
may wish to obtain copies of photos in their books for personal reasons (like current ownership).I am sure Tom's descendents
would be pleased to know that the car still survives.
