Rich, you have probably subscribed to receive them - maybe inadvertently - so when anyone posts to that topic, you'll get a message to say so!

Click on 'my subscriptions' and it will show you whether that is so.

You can edit that area by unsubscribing from any topics that you don't want to be notified about.
