Register Treasurer – an imminent vacancy and an opportunity
Readers of the Register Bulletin and Safety Fast will have read that at our AGM later this year, we will be looking to elect a new Treasurer to succeed the present incumbent, John Summers.
John responded to the committee’s request in the winter of 2019 and joined the Register team as our Treasurer at the beginning of 2020, just in time to have to deal with the “new normal” brought about by COVID-19. He has done a super job in keeping our finances in equilibrium and playing an important role in some major strategic and operational issues which have faced the Register since then.
Recognising that we all live in a changing world, John has regrettably decided to step back from the Treasurer role shortly and the committee is now preparing to appoint a worthy successor.
The Treasurer is at the centre of the Triple-M Register world and its activities, as well as linking with the MGCC. In addition to being custodian of funds for the Register with oversight of shop, publications, tours and other activities, he/she is also a key part of the Register’s Committee, shaping how we support owners and enthusiasts in their enjoyment of Triple-M cars and recording the history of the cars themselves.
John does not intend to stand for re-election at the 2022 AGM, so now would be an ideal time to hear from anybody who is interested in getting involved in this role. An MGCC Member with some familiarity with financial record keeping and the basic elements of bookkeeping would be ideally suited. Encouragement, guidance and support will be available from the Register committee and the MGCC.
As the clock is ticking, if someone wishes to pick up the role sooner, John would be happy to hand over the reins, and offer support during the transition.
Triple-M motoring is a vital part of MG heritage. This is an opportunity to be taken, not avoided.
