I am nearing the end of my long running rebuild of L2063. I have everything needed to complete except the tank mounted petrol gauge. I have the top plate and chromed bezel but none of the components which are inside the tank, no usable face/dial or pointer. Can anyone help with advice, parts or source of parts (new or restorable)? Thanks, Mike.

Mike Flat nose Morrises had a very similar arrangement but shorter. I think the dial and the mechanism is identical. Sorry no photos just now.
Best of luck

Hi Mike, try Gregory's Autoparts, if you can find him now he has officially retired. He had a small selection of these gauges on his "retirement sale" stall at Prescott last weekend. Regards, David |

Mike,I made one for my L1 which has an Australian 2 seater body, and I can do a sketch of what I made,it is very simple and needs a small lathe and a bit of soldering etc but works well,James Earl |

I understand Nev Churcher is able to supply a disassembled kit of parts for thes. They are not generic parts i.e. the type sold by general automotive suppliers but are correct in the small detail for the L type.

As Rich says, Nev was preparing a small batch for sale, but unfortunately his poor eyesight became acute and there is now little chance of the gauge kits being finished. I think I am right in saying that each kit was complete except for the main "Archimedes" spindle. The actual tank gauges, with face, pointer and domed glass are really exceptional.
Willie, if you were inclined to take them off his hands, in order to complete the kits for sale, I am sure that he would be receptive. Let me know if you need his phone numbeer.

Thanks for the info, Rich. I was actually addressing my remarks in the direction of Willie McKenzie, but I expect he is also very busy. It certainly needs someone to step up and finish what Nev has started.

You can find these gauges at the Complete Automobilist. They are beautiful, made to order, so there is a 6-8 weeks delivery process, you must pay 50% when you place the order, and the price is £ 738 incl. VAT... Ouch !

Michael, Just corrected 7.25 " not 85mm
I have a circular flange slide sender unit pretty much the same as that illustrated but it is only 185mm long from the underside of the 3 hole fixing plate which is 62mm o/d . The bezel or circular flange is 47mm diameter It is complete in good order but missing the dial plate only . It has the needle and glass. It could be converted with a little skill to any length which you needed . Should it be of interest I can send pics later . |

And I have the graphics for a proper Jaeger dial plate. I had intended on etching these, but never got around to it.
