Coming up for auction. I have no connection to the car or the auctioneer

I saw this car at a rally a couple of years ago. It is unbelievably original, full of information about how it was really done at Abingdon. I just pray that some vandal doesn't destroy it all and turn it into yet another pseudo racer.

Is it me or is this K1 not currently listed in their 15th October catalogue?
It would be a nice 'big brother' to my TC

I’ve seen this car at a few nearby events and it’s a gem. The only option to keep its charm and originality is to maintain it as is. “Restore” a pile of bits with a new body, wings, chrome, upholstery etc by all means but cars like this need preservation, NOT restoration. If you want bling, go and buy one that’s had that done to it already.

I have seen photos of this car in magazines, it comes from long term ownership

It would be an absolute travesty if this so original car was rebuilt in the style of a K3. A few years ago there was an NB in a similar original condition but needing recommissioning. It sadly ended up as an inevitable K3 lookalike creation! I seem to recall the 4 seat body etc was sold on

it doesn't seem to be in the online catalogue yet on the auctioneer's website. What a great looking car, couldn't agree more about preserving it.

We all of course have our own views and I would prefer to see the car sympathetically restored, i.e. not bling however, most long term Forum members will be aware of my views on K3 lookalikes. This car should definitely remain as a K1 Tourer.

According to the latest Register listing, this is K0324 owned by Mike Brockway. Mike does not seem to be a subscriber to the Forum but as the car has been seen in the SW of the country, and as the auctioneer is in Chippenhme, this adds weight to that belief. Not too far from Gosport, Trevor. Go for it.
Best wishes, Colin B.

I think the estimate of £25-40,000 will prove to be well under the sale price.
Let us hope and pray the car remains in its original form, it is a fabulous MG.

This now appears to be live on Richard Edmonds website

It is reported as being from deceased estate so unfortunately it would appear that the previous owner is no longer with us

Details are now online but not too much more info. Does not even tell you if it runs. A reasonable amount of photos with a good zooming facility for some detail.
Colin, I think I may well take a trip up, but as Chris said will probably go for well over estimate and probably for K3 convertion, which would be a pity.

Here's a link to the online catalogue page:
https://richardedmonds.atgportals.net/auctions/8326/ibri10092/lot-details/eb805490-dba7-4ebb-a4d5-af2700beb5a0

That page includes these sentences: "The late custodian used and enjoyed the car in its current condition, and this oily rag look cannot be surpassed. Upon delivery we drove the car around our premises, and we were impressed that a car appearing to require restoration, drove well."

Thanks, Mike.
I would love to own this car. ( Would be even nicer with a type 75 ENV preselector and a BTH magneto as some of them were equipped.)
Does anyone know what the circular brass disc on the firewall is?

Latest bid is £10 - I am thinking of doubling it!

That circular brass fitting on the firewall has the letters UML - the car was supplied by University Motors and as such I think it has something to do with an extended warranty?
