Whilst surfing the net, I recently came across the Dellow website, which stated that the manufacture of the early Dellow chassis was subcontracted to Holden & Hunt. We know this manufacturer to produce the two piece brake druns for the KN,Q type, and Lagonda Rapier, but I was not aweare of any other activities. Has anybody any further knowledge of this manufacturer, who was in the Birmingham area I believe?

Hi Ron
Seem to remember when I lived in the Midlands that Holden & Hunt were manufacturers of welding equipment in the Wolverhampton area or thereabouts, I think specialising in resistance welders. The R types had drums supplied by them I well remember their triangular motiff engraved on each one.
As you say trivia but all helps build up triple-M knowledge/interest

Ron,

I wrote a short article a few years ago in The Bulletin about the H&H patent which is stamped on Q bake drums.

A Google search shows that H&H became Hirst, Holden & Hunt Resistance Welding, and they were bought by Prospot in 2001. This company was established in 1997, and supply/manufacture an extensive range of resistance welding products.

Hirst, Holden & Hunt Resistance Welding was an amalgamation of different companies. Hirst was formally known as Hirst Electrical Industries or Hirst Electrical Developments and were originally based in Crawley, West Sussex, as part of the B.O.C. Group manufacturing a range of resistance welding machines. This company had been acquired in 1977. Holden and Hunt were a long established manufacturer and a forerunner of resistance welding machines, originally based in Warley, West Midlands, as Bob says.
