I am in urgent need of a float chamber cover for a SU HV2 carburettor. This is the original brass bodied, bottom feed carb for an M Type.
Are there any out there? |

Just the job Chris, but mine is that mazak (?) material which breaks when you look at it. But are there any more ?

Hi John. What diameter is your float chamber (internal). I have actually got as far as making a pattern for casting these but there are different sizes. I put it on hold when I managed to source an original but might have to accelerate the project if there is demand

Kevin, The float chamber diameter is 1 15/16 inches. Your idea is a long term solution. In the short term, I want to go to the Ulster Centre MG100 event on Saturday 10 June.
Terry, I see you have the same problem as me with a broken support pillar for the pivot pins. This is probably due to old age of the material.
Thanks anyway, John |

John I did not notice the break that is probably why I changed it many years ago. |

That pivot point could be mended with 2 part "plastic metal" I think. I have repaired a similar pivot for the choke lever successfully this way. It can even be drilled and it is the same colour as the original Mazak. There is not much pressure on the pivot to stress it. Keith |

John, where you able to repair your cap. If you're still looking, I may have one.

My apologies for highjacking this post but I need a float to suit an M type brass carburettor (same chamber ID as Johns) & thought that while checking your spares for John's cap one might turn up. Fingers crossed

Yes, the good news is that the magic plastic metal actually worked. I had to be very careful not to use too much and avoid the holes for the pivot pin. Thank you everybody for your thoughts and advice.
