The carbs on cars [not just MMM] all seem to control air supply with a butterfly valve . The carbs on motorbikes all seem to use slides? discuss . Geoff

This question is much wider than it seems and incorporates the design of the inlet manifold (single cylinder per throttle or shared like standard MMM), carburettor type (constant velocity or fixed) or fuel injection, and desired characteristics away from full throttle.

I'd suggest that for constant wide open throttle, a single cylinder per throttle and a desire for maximum power slides are best. But for a road car, or even a racing car for road circuits (even F1 cars are at wide open throttle for less than 30% at Monaco), butterflies are best.
