Awhile back (July 12, 2008) I posted a topic for converting the existing oil filter canister to a 'store bought' filter. Many members were very helpful. I've decided to go ahead with this conversion. It's fairly simple except I need to machine (or buy) the necessary aluminum disk. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to make without a lathe or does anyone have an extra ??? Thanks, Dan |

Hello Dan,
I think the on;ly way to make these is with a lathe.
I might have a spare if you are interested?

Hi, I made my disc for oil filter out of a lid from a jar of german brockwurst sausages. fitted like a glove, 60psi at tickover. |

Does anyone have a drawing of this disc - not the bratwurst variety that could be posted via the downloads area?

I think people are talking about different parts here, I would be very surprised if bratwurst or brockwurst sausage jar lids are 20mm thick which is the thickness of the ali spacer.
Dick did you want a drawing of the spacer at the bottom of the filter, if so I will post one on this forum.

There is another way of converting an original canister to take the filter element and that just involves fitting an ali spacer in the bottom of the canister. There are no alterations required at the top of the filter. Drawing is below.

Hi Dan, when you follow the setup of my display http://www.triple-mregister.org/uploads/retro/filter-conversion.pdf itĘs nice to have a machined disk on top of the filter, but you not necessarily need to machine one. You can use any round metal disk which just fits into the filter bowl, with a thickness of at least 3mm. You drill a hole in the centre, and fit a short 3/8 inch nut and bolt, which protrude both sides, and that will centre the spring on top and the filter below. Gerhard
