My P type bears the number 0418 which is stamped into the engine bearer tube between the two (Bishop Cam) steering box supports mounted thereon.

I have seen a similar stamping on other MMM cars and wondered whether there was any correlation with say the chassis number or whether it is perhaps another running sequence. It is not a part no. because the engine bearer tube number to fit a Bishop Cam box is listed as MG568/1.

Might it possibly be the 418th tube fitted since the Bishop Cam steering was introduced?

Any ideas please?

Thanks,
Powerplus.
