Thanks for the correction Ray. My earliest notes refer to "Tony" but later on my records were altered to "J A Statham" possibly obtained from the race programmes in 1963 and 1964 when Tony was racing at Silverstone with the MGCC and VSCC. I was wandering round the paddock at the VSCC Meeting and Tony was having difficulty in getting the car to run properly due to head lifting (stretching of the studs). When the beast did fire up, the noise was ear-slitting.
Strangely enough exactly the same thing with the confusion of names has arisen with a friend of mine who I have known since the mid-fifties as Tony. Only recently I discovered that his first name is John. Must be the combination of the two names that people don't like !
