To exited not to post!
As some of you know I am a Young Dutch MMM enthousiast. Me and my girlfriend are driving MG's daily a "66 midget and a "74 BGT.
Recently i realized that it is never going to be the right time to buy a MMM so why not do it now! And with the help of a certain Registrar (Robin, Cathelijne told me all about it thanks!)i got pointed in the right direction.
So the 27/28th of December I am ging to the UK to pick up D0495! My very own D-type project.
It will be a long term project and i can't wait to start!

Congratulations Onno At least you now know where to come for all the help you are going to need! Post some pictures when you can, let me know if you need help with that, do not know much about the D-type but I can help you with the electrics when that time comes Nick

Onno, just to let you know I already have 2 D-type's and have learnt fast how these differ from the M's, J's and F's, but there are similarities. With the knowledge of Ted Hack, MG D-group mistro and a few other D owners we will hopefully help you along. I went to see and offered a price for D0495 last Friday but knew someone from Europe was also after it. My offer was under the asking price as there is a fair bit of body work to progress with but if you are handy with wood you'll be ok, then obviously needs skinning. A challenge but by the sounds of it you have waited long enough and can't wait to get stuck in ... as you can see there are plenty of supporters.

Thanks you all for the help offered i most likely will need it!
Pictures will come when i have the car in this country.
Maurice If we are in the same regio we wil have to meet up some time! I assume the MGworkshop is known with you?
Chris I heard there was an other bidder thank you for leaving this one for me, but you seem to have plenty to keep you bussy ;) I am trained as a joiner so the wood work is the easy bit for me and a big part of why i wanted this car. I have been studying and F that is local and the only difficult bit in skining it seems to be the compound curve at the botom rear. But i will cross that bridge when i get there.
First i have to get it here! |

OK Chaps
Whilst we have Dutchmen interested, could someone put me in touch with the Stiles owners in Holland? I would like to visit at some stage as I have the remains of a Stiles chassis (F0313) and a couple of bits of the body and would appreciate help and advice on various aspects of the car; a kit of body timbers wouldn't come amiss, or patterns. I have never seen one in the flesh, and I may be on the continent in the F tourer in the summer.
Cheers

Peter
There is a very nice Styles bodied car in the UK - it belongs to Patrick Gardner who I think lives in Surrey.

Thanks George, I have his details and my first exercise should be to go and see it. There is a D Stiles in Scotland too which is attractive as I believe, like the ones in Holland it is being rebuilt, which means patterns etc might be available.
Cheers
