Looking through the July 1958 Motor Sport the other day I found an S H Richardson advert with the following cars listed :- NA LG9343 Red,PB MG385 Green, PA BGC42 Blue, L JB1708 Black, L BLE805 Black, F WV425 Black, J2 APB321 Black, J2 CG3407 Red, J2 MJ1061 Green, J2 JD2741 Green,no prices were given. I wonder how many of these still exist.
The prices being asked for others in the private adverts is heartbreaking, £175 is the highest I saw for J and P types of which there were many most which seemed to have Ford engines. There was also an ENV preselector box for £5.

Hi Maurice

I have looked at the 2010 printed Triple-M Register and found only 2 of the registrations - LG9343 is J2221 and JB1708 is L0414.

J2221 is shown as being supercharged

L0414 is shown as being a 4 seater, supercharged and with a preselect gearbox. It is in the USA

I bought my first PA, via their ad in Motor Sport, from Richardsons at about this time and paid £75!

Regards George

PA 0603, APP 186 was sold to Halfway Garage by an un-traced Bristol-area owner for £90 in January 1959, advertised by the late Dan Margulies in 'Motor Sport' in October 1961 for £125, then advertised in Safety Fast by John Whitmarsh in February 1966 for £200.

I bought the rather down-at-heel PA 0627, BEV 307, for £20 in 1960 and sold it in, I think, 1962, for £25. It ran well and passed the then new MOT, though it had to be pushed away from the testing station!

IMHO prices started to go up in the early 'seventies, when I sold the partially rebuilt L.2023, ALA 656, for £750. Well, it was the car or the house since I was on a student grant - remember them? - with a family.
