Hi Everyone,

I have the parts of various petrol pumps and wish to make a good
12 volt pump, however I do not know if the 2 pump bodies that I have are 6 or 12 volts.

One of the bodies has a 6 cast into the flange however that might not be conclusive evidence.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me advice on the subject.

Russ,

If you go to the following article from my independent T-Type website you'll get advice on distinguishing 6V from 12V from somebody who knows more about SU pumps than most. It's not straightforward!

http://ttypes.org/ttt2/the-su-pressure-pump-type-l-part-1/

Incidentally, there will be a follow up 3 page article on refurbishing the SU pressure pump in the AUGUST issue of my independent T-Type magazine "Totally T-Type 2". The August issue should be on my website around about the 15th July.

Hi John

Thanks for your prompt reply, the article is most useful.

I have measured the resistance on both pump bodies and its about 4.5 ohms on each body, so good news they are 12volt Allegedly!!

I will cross check the other facts noted in the text before commiting myself however the article certainly answers most questions about ID of pumps.

Thanks once again.

Russ
