Dear All

I am rebuilding, slowly, F0313 which was a Stiles bodied car. Little remains and I am going to have to make the various bespoke bits.

I have talked to Roger Emmerson who has a nearly complete Stiles and between us we have most of the special bits.

Are there any other Stiles owners who need anything and might like to share the expense of their manufacture?

So far I have identified a need for the following

petrol tanks,
petrol filler caps and
the flange which goes round the filler pipe

windscreen supports (2 parts)
support arms
windscreen frame

door locks

dickey seat hinges

rear wing rear brackets

dashboard

We do not have a window frame. Has anyone got one they would be prepared to let us copy? Likewise the seats...

Has anyone any of these parts lying unwanted? we would be interested...

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter

I believe Patrick Gardner still owns a very well restored Stiles bodied F type.

Garry Waiting in Kendal has a restored Stiles F type. Let me know if you want his address.

George, Colin

Thank you.

I have seen Garry's car, it now resides in North Yorkshire, it looks superb and the engine sounds perfect! Problem is, there are none of those particularly Stiles items which we are after and interestingly it is built along the lines of a Carbodies body with the body irons we all know. Stiles started by bolting a couple of planks to the top of the chassis and built up from that!

I have not yet got up Patrick's way but am working on it. Thanks for his number.

Hi Peter.

I own Stiles F0861. I would be glad to share the expense for a second Stiles Windscreen and Filler Cap. I also need the step for the Dickey Seat.

As you say though these parts are extremely hard to come by, much less to have an existing owner make them available for reproduction.

I would be glad to touch base with you. My email is Harry.hickling@apvautomotive.com

Best Regards

I wonder what would be the feasibility (cost + practical aspects) of building a Stiles body from scratch for a P-type?

Thoughts?
