I have been using Autoglym polish on my PA - you know, the red one..

It occurred to me that as it seems to remove a layer of (cellulose) paint with every application, it was surely only a matter of time before I would down to the primer and in these difficult times the idea of a re-spray did not appeal!

I looked around the house for some gentle car wax and found none, but Mrs Morbey kindly offered me some Tesco furniture wax polish with beeswax (£1.43 a pot) so I used that - and very good it is too. All of the rain marks have gone, the paint has a decent shine and the rag wasn't covered in paint at the end of the job.

What are your favourite products?

Best wishes
Dick

Mrs Morbey clearly knows a thing or two. I use Pledge, and many of my aviation friends use it for polishing their doped fabric-covered aircraft with excellent results.

Despite there being specialist piano casework polishes on the market we too use Pledge on our stock of pianos, the anti smear one is excellent on the high gloss polyester finishes. To prepare first it can be a good idea to wipe clean with a wax remover, I forget the name of the stuff we use right now but that is also excellent and prepares the surface well.

Hi Dick

Is that the red car with blue polish or vice versa!

I use Zymol finisher wax, easy to put on and easy to polish off and no paint removed! The finish improves after the next wash.

Touché George. It's the blue car and the product label is red. That's not a red label Bentley of course - I don't have one of them or a red PA either!

Best wishes
