The feature Triple M MG on the opening of the web-site (today), has the registration TJ2. From the 2010 Register, TJ2 appears to be a J2 owned by Michael Carabine, chassis J2859.
However, since I am also a member of the New England MG T Register, I checked its records, and in the 1997 issue of their Register, I noted that J2859 was the property of Dr. Ivor Thevathasan of Singapore, who by coincidence, I have just visited. It, at the time (1997), bore the registration SE87 which may be a Singapore number.
Which record is right? Or could the car have changed hands in the 14-year interval?

Hi,
According to Mike Hawke's researches, TJ2 was the registration mark of J 2653, and it Toulmin's J2 before he graduated to a P-type early in 1934.
J 2859 has no such distinguished history. Only the two owners can tell us the chassis number of their respective cars: I am sure they are both honest gentlemen and will furnish us with appropriate details, preferably in the form of a rubbing taken from the front of the chassis.
Best wishes,
Mike

Hi Gents
TJ 2 was the original registration number for J 2653, but this registration number now resides with J 2859 which indeed belongs to Michael Carabine in the UK.
Hope this clears this one up.
Regards
Robin
