Is there an easy way of removing lead from sheet metalwork so that welding or brazing can take place or is it not neccessary to remove it completely?

Hello Maurice, simple answer is yes. You have to get rid of the lead or tin before welding. Use a blow lamp or oxy acethylen equipment for bringing the lead up to the melting point. Part will drip of, the rest wipe away. Then sand down to bare metal.
