I own NA0686, ex Lancashire police car. I have found a local bell that says "Winkworth " . It is approx. 4-1/2 diameter x 6" high. Does anybody know what the MMM police bells were "in the day" ?
Also today found a UK police helmet, but it was not Lancashire, so didn't buy it at about 75 quid.

A picture speaks a thousand words.
As a reference guide.
It's just being mindful of what is a valuble capture of information. And you don't even have the grief of going down town to process em!

Through the visual backdrop to the bell, the manifold, you can establish size.

Most people "in the day" had a little door bolt to stop the door flying open when rounding a corner, those HiTech police, whatever will they think of next?

The fleeing victim of future police brutality would certainly be able to out-accelerate this car with all this extra dead weight added to that of the crew, themselves honed to fitness on a diet of canteen bacon sandwiches and tea.

My 2 seat NB was one of 3 such cars delivered to the Chief Constable of Wiltshire by local dealer Skurrays - who are still trading. It is the only known survivor with one car written off in France by the Chief Constable's son who had purchased it when the Police had finished with it.

The cars were black with light blue upholstery, modifications at the factory included offset seat for the observer, batteries reloacted under the seats, and there was a lever on the transmission tunnel which connected with the rear number plate via a bowden cable; when turned the lever rotated the hinged number plate to reveal the sign Police stop. No bells were fitted!

I contributed the picture of a sister car on patrol in Wiltshire featured Andrea Green's book MGs on patrol. I made contact with several Police pensioners through the Wiltshire Police, hence the photo and info on the rear number plate. I even reunited an observer who had been on patrol in the Devizes area in my car.
