With one of my car purchases, came three sets of J2 carbs. One is a "normal " ali. set, the other two both have bronze float bowls. These are normal size T1 bowls. Anybody know the origin of these, were they an SU part or some aftermarket substitutes from Derrington or the like. Just interested to know.

Not sure Ron although when I purchased a load of J type engine parts years ago, the carbs were complete with Bronze T1 float bowls

J2396 has had bronze float bowls since at least 1952. I was always lead to believe that this was the common fittment for early J2s.

Hello Ron,

Didn't see you for a long time. When I bought my L1 Continental Coupe it had three carburettors with bronze float bowls.

Is this what you beleive to be the T1 bronze floats? Ok this is a D with just one but are they the same paired? If so can anyone confirm where to get intertnal parts for them! ... other than Burlin SU

Hi Jorgen, It is a few years ago since I had a pair of these manifolds done but I reckon it was stove enamelled ... certainly was done professionally to ensure it could deal with the heat. As I have only just got my engine running I remain unsure to how well it lasts. As you say though it does look the part anyway.
