Recently i placed an add for a gearbox on the net , i have had an email offering the right box 3-4 days shipping cost of 675 usd , please pay by western union or moneygram . i questioned the seller for details of the box but no reply, i sent another email asking if the numbers stamped on the box were the same as the ones i had asked if speedo ratio 5/17 was stamped on the box ( 5 /17 would not be on the box ) , he replied yes which proves it did not exist.
About 9 months ago I put an advert on the SVW web site for a pair of VA carburettors. I got email from the USA saying they had the items I wanted. When I said I had my son working in the USA and he would pick up the parts in person there was no reply. Since then about every 3 weeks I get exactly the same wording for the parts for sale but from a different name on the top of the email. Each time I get no response when I say my son will pick up the items to save postage. I have now taken down my request from the SVW website. On the John James TT2 site he also warns of scammers……. BTW has anyone go a pair of 1 3/8’s VA carbs?........Terry A
Try Advertising something for sale, you get people saying they will give you loads of money over the top of your asking price and would you pay my currier! I advertise a mountain bike for £1,600 ( cost £3,500 new) I had an email telling me they needed it urgently for a present and they will send me an extra £2,000 to pay the currier!!!
