Hi Greg,
The gearbox and engine look very F Type particularly with the carbs on the nearside, interesting period toolbox.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Greg

As a matter of interest, why are you considering splitting the F type box from the F type engine as it is a good combination as it is??

It will also be quite an expense to go non-standard and fit the preselector to the F engine. If this is not one of the crosstube gearboxes used on the earliest F types then the standard F box is quite a weight to hang off the back of the standard J flywheel housing. It has been done on many an occasion although you would need to reconfigure the oil delivery supply to the rear main as opposed to relying on the rather poor internal feed arrangement between block and flywheel housing. The F type flywheel housing was slightly different to the J/M and MM, and so this was not a problem on the F

I have a petrol can with an embossed MG logo, but I note the toolbox end is pressed out where on the petrol can it's pressed in.

Any one know the history of such petrol cans?

Greg am I right in saying your tool box is plywood? I am just wondering what the MG emblem is made of? Could it be the rubber door pocket inserts?

Matthew.
