Can any one provide any information about a B.de lissa, who drove an MG Magnette in the 1950 Manx Cup. A photo is attached of the car. Was this an N type? The var behind was driven by R. Jacobs.

That looks very much like NA0756. The "B" in de Lissa was for Brian. The car is still seen out and about fairly regularly with Ian Baxter.

The car behind in the entry list says 1086 MG Magnette, but is that the exhaust system on the offside in which case it cannot be a 6cyl Magnette engine? |

The car behind would appear to be the MG Special of Dick Jacobs. Here is a photo of it (No1) which, with many others, apears in his book (1976), An MG Experience, London, Transport Bookman Publications.
This was the first of his specials, with which he did the 1949 & 1950 seasons. It was based on a TA chassis, TC brakes & gearbox but the engine was a Morris 10 Series M, sleeved to 62mm, which gave the 1086cc capacity. It had MG logos on external engine bits "to keep the scruitineers happy" (so he says in the book) and the whole lot was Marshall supercharged (near-side mounted, belt driven). A nice photo of the car was used on the cover of the 1951 Manx event.
Interestingly, he never once refers to it as "Magnette" in his book, sliding trunnions at the back & a Marshall are just about the only similarities. JH |

Many thanks JMH, I think the Magnette came from my imagination based on the 1086cc. Here's a photo showing the supercharger from Stilltime. tks - MGH
