Friends in the local MGCC here in Melbourne have sent me this multiple image of an F type that the family owned in the UK a long time ago. Just wondering if by any chance it is a survivor?
Cheers, Matthew.

Hi Mathew
It should be F1012 but is not known to survive sadly.

Hmmm
Is it an Abbey bodied 4 seater?
Any info on when and where it was last seen? The photos look 1950s
Cheers

Where, out of interest is the street? I wonder what that looks like now? |

Don't know the street, but the top picture is obviously in Australia, and the two on the left are on the way there! (hee hee)

Hi Matthew An interesting car! I'm afraid we don't have any further details of it in the 'F' Type Registry, but if I put those photographs on the website they'll jog someone's memory! It does indeed look like an Abbey-bodied car to me. Any further details and better copies of the photos would be appreciated and help identify it. Cheers Ian Ross P.S. If anybody else has old photos or details of 'F' types please contact us. http://www.fmagna.org.uk |

I am told the photos were taken in the mid 1950's at Buckly Road, Kilburn London. Cant help with the body type. If you let me know which particular photos you are after I will ask.
Cheers, Matthew. |

Hi Matthew Thanks for the quick reply! All those and any other photos really! I've done what I could with what you uploaded and put them on the website but anything further would be a bonus. Many thanks Ian P.S. Did the car emigrate to Australia or was it just the owner?! www.fmagna.org.uk |

Hi Matthew
Many thanks for clarifying that.
I'm sure there are others with family snapshots like those that would be of interest and could help fill in the gaps in the 'jig-saw' with photographic evidence.
If anybody else can dig up photos like them or memories/records of 'F' type Magnas it would be helpful.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Morning All,
I have an Abbey bodied F1 Magna which I am "Re-restoring". This car was until recently, in the same family ownership since 1935, and I am in regular contact with the wife of the original owner. She 90, sharp as a tack, and drives a subaru impreza!
I have photos, some original family pics, of this car I can post if anyone is interested. My car contrasts with the one shown in that it has rear hinged dorrs, and the rear end looks very different.
regards
Richard

Hi Richard I presume you are the present owner of F0312. We are always interested in photos and information about 'F' types in the F Type Magna Register. Perhaps you'd like to send in a copy of the form for your car? (See the website http://fmagna.org.uk) Best wishes Ian |

Hi Folks Just to let you know that I was sent better versions of the photos above by the descendants of the owner and with a little 'serendipitous' luck I've been able to identify the body on the car! It's not an Abbey body but that from a Singer 9 Sports- even down to the dashboard! - which explains why the front wings hang down a bit low! It seems to retain the MG Magna Tourer windscreen though. I was looking at photos of Wolseley Hornet Specials and there was a Singer 9 Sports in one of them! See the car in the attached link:- http://www.1933singer.com/photogallery.php So presumably F1012 was rebodied for some reason before the mid '50s. If anybody recalls having seen this particular car or has any more information relevant to it we would be delighted to hear from you. Cheers Ian Ross http://www.fmagna.org.uk |
