Surprised nobody has mentioned this before, or is it not all that it appears to be? Apologies if this has been posted before already...

The Seller, F40 Motor Sports, is run by Wayne Carini (he, of "Chasing Classic Cars" fame), who comes over as a very diligent and careful researcher. I am sure that the news that the ND shown is the 1934 TT Winning Car will be a bit of a worry to Hans Teimert who owns the ex Charlie Dodson NE, NA0522, which for the last 75 years we all thought was the actual winning car. It is amazing how the passing of years can unearth the true facts !!!!

The vendor wrongly states an ND won the TT, though not this car?

The advert is also wrong when it states the ND was the last of the N types when in fact the NDs were all early numbered NA chassis fitted with surplus K2 bodies.

I am sure I have seen this car advertised before - I think it was entered in an auction in the last couple of years. I expect Lew Palmer will have the necessary info.

The last of the Ns was of course the NB.

I have very little on this car, as only the smallest bit of information was ever supplied to my. In fact I have it still listed under the previous owner's name. It is listed, however, as an ND, chassis number NA0484, but with no historical information, and not even listed in the 2012 (UK) Register. One would think that if this was as truly significant as the ad proclaims, the Register would certainly have more information. I believe this is simply more auction company hype.

Colin,

Hans Teimert does not own the TT winning NE any more, it has gone to a new home.

Lew,

The car, NA 0484, is listed in the 2012 (UK) and 2013 (UK) Register Listings. We have had the car listed for many years.

Peter,

Of course it is - if you look in the ND section instead of the NA section like I stupidly did.

Thanks for the info Peter regarding the current whereabouts of NA0522. Strange, Hans bought QA0255 from Anthony Littlejohn and then sold it on fairly rapidly. I wonder whether he is a dealer, rather than a museum owner.

On the question of the contentious ND, NA0484, I know that Mike Allison has recently gone through all of the N files held by the Club at Abingdon I wonder whether he has come across anything relating to NA0484 which might support its claimed illustrious history. Mike, are you there ?

When I read the auction website blurb I didn't pick up that it said this car won the TT. I thought he meant a car of this type...

I rather think the auction house thinks NDs are NEs and is just a little unsure of its MG history...

Cheers

Just for the record, I have contacted Wayne Carini direct, stating that the car has no known pre-war racing connection.
