An utterly trivial question (but it's quiet in the office here in the Caucasus this morning!!), but what do folks use as tax disc holders and where do they mount them? At my request, Oliver fitted a plain black motor cycle one under the B nut on the windscreen but on reflection it's not very elegant. The options seem to be to fit motor cycle type ones (of varying quality and price of course) to the windscreen support using one or other of the two screws, or to fit something to the windscreen itself, possibly one of the suction type.
Suggestions, guys? |

Simon,
My own personal preference is to use one of the completely plain flexible plastic ones which glue themselves firmly to the bottom corner of the windscreen. Not original, I know, but no garish colours, no advertising some product which I have never used etc. etc. They are virtually invisible, and meely show the tax disk itself

Thanks, Colin. I should have mentioned that in Northern Ireland not only do we still have the MOT (hurrah!) but we also have to display a disc, the same size as the tax disc, showing the validity of the MOT. So we actually need two holders! |

Front near side chassis rail just behind the greasing point for the front springs. Can be seen from the pavement even when the screen is down or off.

That's very neat, David, but I'm wondering if it mightn't be just a teensy bit extravagant for me to install a blower just to have somewhere to put the tax disc. ![](images/icon_smile_big.gif) |

You wouldn't regret being a teensy bit extravagant Simon. Once you've been blown there is no going back.![](images/icon_smile_blush.gif) ![](images/icon_smile_big.gif) You could mount both the discs needed over there, on the one small bolt through the chassis, if there is a hole already there of course.

No worries, I'm sure others will join in - it's such a fascinating subject! (Clearly I've too much time on my hands in the office today.) |

Simon, this picture is just an excuse for the missus to show off really, but the tax disc is there somewhere. Same fixing point with or without windscreen. As Greg says you can get twin disc holders. Graham

Graham,
Where exactly is the holder attached? And is it the Halcyon one? |

A bike tax disc holder may do the job but is better on a bike, IMHO.
In period, no doubt, one of those '30s dealer's nickel and enamel holder, where the rim is glued to the windscreen and the tax disc covered by the ornamental advertising cover, held in to the rim by a wire circlip, would have been preferred.
Plastic and vacuum holders seem to be rather post-war.
Obtainable, with care and patience.

I used to have the plastic type fitted to the screen BUT I have had two discs stolen, one from the NB and the other from the L2! A friend who lives in South Northants area also had his stolen - he told me it is quite a common occurrence.
I now have a metal framed holder which at the moment is bolted to the support for the rear view mirror on the off side screen support. At least a would be villain will have to have a spanner and a screw driver to remove my Tax disc!
I quite like David's solution.
