New to this forum & topics, couple of questions if possible.

Are the PA and PB blocks and heads identical? If not is there a simple way to tell the difference?

I have a number of wheels fitted with old firestone tyres 400/450x19 that look correct for a PA but I also have two more that have the same hubs but a wider 525/550 18 inch rim fitted with balloon tyres
Are these for a PA or some other model?

Thanks

John,

The PA and PB blocks are similar but not the same. PA blocks have a 57mm bore (plus any re-bore oversize) and PB blocks have a 60mm bore (plus any re-bore oversize). The PB blocks and very late PA blocks have two breathers, the PA block has only one. PA blocks have an AP engine number stamped on them and PB blocks have an APB engine number. The cylinder heads are the same.

The 18” wheels are not standard for a PA or PB, but were fitted to N types

Peter.

And welcome to the MMM Forum.

Beware of the addictive power of MMM cars, though.

Bob.

Thanks Peter/Bob.
I have a garage full of parts that has not been looked at since 1970 and need to sort the PA bits from other parts.
This won't be the last question.
Regards
John
