Hello MG Boys,

I just bought (ebay) a marshall supercharger type: J 100
It is the size I need to super charge my L2.
What I want to know is,what was the original purpose
of this roots type blower?
On the front cover is following cast and stamped in:

Marshall Supercharger
Type: J 100
Styl: 19
DRG No. 890
Serial No. 31809
Date: 5.5.52

Carl,
These J series blowers are not cabin blowers and have never"flown".
They are an industrial blower, used where large volumes of low pressure air are required, for example, to airate a pipe so that powders will readily flow along the pipe, they are used in power station water treatment plants for airation purposes, and many more low pressure installations. Just for info. the 100 stands for 100 cu. ft./ min at 3000rpm.
Do you intend to front mount it or side mount it, either way I can help you out with the bits you will need if you don't already have them.
