Great minds, Dave, great minds, etc.

This is the finished result (I hope our Dutch friends don't mind me posting this photo from their site)

I am doing the Dutch light mounting.
Hanging the reflectors below below the Pork Pie units.
Nice gestalt configuration. Doesn't spoil the integrity of the car's various components. As the lights sit in a pocket between wing and tank.
I am thinking of trialling a pair of those new EU Daylight LEDs in my front wing mounted running light shells. Too many drivers, especially artics, seem to think they are "dreaming" my car is cutting across their path as they sail onto a roundabout.
We don't register as the modern coloured box, associated as a car.
I drive the J as I would a motorbike. That is, defensively.

Can you clarify what you're planning to do here, spitfire?

Personally I would not dream of driving a car at night without reflectors. They are really not a problem to fit in one way or another and in my opinion they are a basic safety item in case of rear light bulb failure. Only a couple of months ago I followed a TC with one rear light bulb blown but his wing mounted reflectors worked brilliantly.

Just to add to all those views here's another --as found using thin sheet plate bracket mounted below wing stay bolt heads. Reflectors from the 50's.

If you are parked at the side of the road at night with the lights off at least with reflectors you are not completely invisible.

My sidelights, panel light, and headlamps are all separately fused, which meant that one dark wet night I traveled quite a few miles before the headlight flashing of a following kind-hearted motorist let me know I had no rear lights. I think reflectors are essential.

Many thanks for your comments about reflectors, guys, and in the light of them (no pun intended) I may not dispense with reflectors when/if I relocate my tail lights.
