Some early press articles make reference to the fact that some MG around 1934 could be equipped with a Philco Model 5 radio.
Does anyone have one of these radios? Is there a picture of one? Does anyone have one installed in their MMM car?
If one were available, it might make a nice addition to my Airline Coupe.
Cheers,

There is at leat one company in the UK specialising in repair & supply of vintage auto radio equipment. I could probably find an advert somewhere unless anyone else has their contact details? from memory, they are based somewhere in the West Country.

Andrew,
Thanks for the info. We have a number of such companies here in the US, as well. However, no one over here seems to have one, and there is no pictures I've been able to find. However, I did find a schematic diagram and a parts list. Now to find a picture and possibly radio.

Lew,
You may try The Vintage Wireless Company run by Alan Marchant in Sale Cheshire, UK. Tel/fax +44 (0) 161 973 0438 www.vintagewireless.co.uk e-mail: alan.vintagewireless@lineone.net
Alan specialises in the supply and restoration of radios from 1930 to 1975 and although he may not have the Philco Model 5 in stock, he would be able to look out for one in his travels.
Alan can also modify existing AM radios to provide an FM channel so as to take advantage of current stations.
I have no connection with the firm except as a very satified customer.

Mike,
Thanks. I tried reaching Alan, but his website is refusing to forward my message. I may have to use snail mail if I don't otherwise reach him.
Re the FM converter, that's nice, but I found on my Radiomobile radio in my MGA all I had to do was to detune the radio slightly to start receiving AM signals from the US radio stations. So even though the US frequencies are different from the UK bands, the radio picks up those stations to which I like receiving. I'd swear though, I'm picking up broadcasts from sometime in the 1950s.
Cheers,
