| We have a starter motor that is going the wrong way round after putting in new brushes?? Any ideas or clues how to resolve, please? It is a simple 2-brush motor and even though it is 6V running on 12 V, I did not think that starter motors were polarity sensitive. |

Tom,
Are you sure you replaced the wires to the brushes in their original position? I've never tried doing it wrong, but I would bet that this may have something to do with it.

You are absolutely right. I do not know how, but must have somehow got the wires crossed over. Now all is well, thank you. I also found a very interesting web site about series wound starter motors and how to convert them to reversible and variable speed for use in robots!!
