Following a recent 1500m trip in the NA, I have developed an oil leak through the oil filter housing in the vicinity of the oil pressure gauge take-off. It is coming from the underside so is hard to see in detail because it is so close to the sump.

I had a similar problem with another housing which had pin hole defects in the original casting. It was not reparable by welding due to the very poor quality of the original material. I am assuming the same will be the case with this housing so I am looking for another unit in good condition.

Can anyone help in this regard?

Hi Ed,
the only way to cure that is, vaccum aluminium impregnation.

but this copany is in UK located - I think there is one in Austalia.
It is a commen process for aluminium castings.
