I have just acquired what I think is a j1 chassis it is stamped j1 and then 3 more numbers. I've looked at other j1 chassis numbers and they are stamped j0 123 for example. Just wondering if this is OK as I have seen no other chassis with j1 as the first 2 letters.

The chassis numbers for the J1 in the printed Register all start J0 and are in the range J0254 to J0621 inclusive.

Does your chassis have a stamping on the front dumb iron? Our Registrar Graham will be interested and perhaps you can send him some photos of the chassis stamping.

Greg sent a pic to Peter G and he forwarded it to me. It is a bit unusual, as George says, J1s usually are marked J 0xxx, J2s J2 xxxx, J3s J3 xxxx - but this looks ok apart from the extra 1!

An easy way to ascertain if your chassis was originally made as a J1 or, a J2 is to look at the drillings for the main front wing stays.
