Here is a picture showing the cars that took part in our Melbourne rally to celebrate 50 years of the Pre War Register of Australia. We are parked for a pub lunch at the Wesburn Hotel in the scenic Yarra Valley. Dad and I were in the red NA #23 which still has its original Australian body (rolling chassis export).

The body was built by Charlie Aspinal who made several MG bodies in Melbourne before the war, mostly for P and J types. I have attached images showing the car being driven by Dr Manser at the Lobethal G.P. in 1939.

Cheers,
Matthew.

Hi Matthew.
I have started a P rebuild. I have no body. My car is intended as a fun, light competition car. The Aspinal body is quite interesting. It looks light and roughly what I envisage.

Have you more detailed photos ?

Regards,

Rod.

Here is an Aspinal body on a P type Richard. This one has a pointed tail. If you have a look at the Archives photo section of the Pre War Register of Australia website you will see several more period images. These bodies were steel over angle-iron. Quite simple and rugged.
