None of my speedo cables marry up to the hole in the ENV gearbox; does anyone know exactly what type of end it is, what length? Does anyone have a spare for me buy or at least to be copied please?
Looking down the hole from above the ENV box I can see it is quite wide but unsure what I am looking for!

Have you tried S & V, they were able to supply me with the correct cable for my EN V75 pre-select gearbox.

Speedograph/Richfield can make any length of speedo cable with almost any end fittings required. Very helpful people. They can even supply little in-line gearboxes to correct any incompatibility of gearbox output ratio to speedometer cable turns.

Cheers Colin, I've been going to Speedograph for some 20 years, only 5 mile away. The thing is, I don't have one to start with. I have looked on their website but Tim (the owner) doesn't show anything pre-war ... so I have called them but await a response to see if he knows exactly what I need.

Now if by any chance someone has got a photo or they can do you of the said cable that would be brilliant please.

Olli, looking on BW's P46 (ta Keith) does indeed describe the cable as a Smiths type. However, this now suggests that the M,D,J and F are the same and if they are then I have 3 cables in my spares. But ... although the threaded cap fits fine and the cable is inserted down the hole it is clear the cable isn't going to be turned by anything as it doesn't reach far enough nor can I see anything down there that will ... is the ENV different by any chance?

seems likely that the drive pinion is missing if you have a big deep hole in the bronze sleeve.........if you can see to the bottom there will be a worm gear.....

ta Foz I new and thought there was something missing ... so there is a drive pinion. Do these just slide into the vacant hole? Are they available as spares or a old new ones? Again anyone have a photo so at least I know what to look at and for?

Hi Eric, thanks for the photos ... I think my confusion is that I didn't state earlier that my F is indeed a F2 which has a PB speedo that requires a E.R.F speedo cable end.
However, I am clear now that I am missing the pinion and gear for my ENV ... this is now what I need too ... any spare out there please?

Hi Chris,

I think I still have an old speedo cable from the F1 I had a while ago in the "spares" bin at the back of the garage.
From memory the cable had frayed/broken at the gearbox end but its all there.
I'll dig it out tomorrow if you are still interested?

Cheers
