Under 'MG M-type 1932' on Ebay today is a cylinder block from 'an extremely good-running car dismantled following an accident.' How recently dismantled it doesn't say. Are we one fewer? How many are lost each year?
Bob the seller is me. As I say in the description I have had the block for well over thirty years and the car had been dismantled some years before that. Long gone I am afraid ! Many of our cars were lost in the sixties when they were of very little value. My first J2 purchased in 1963 was in fair running condition and cost ú35 !
Thanks for the reply, question answered! I am sure that many of us - particularly those around when the cars were practically valueless - were 'guilty' of dismantling cars. Would the Register find it helpful if we dredged our collective memories for details of those cars? It might fill a few gaps in the record before we drop off our perches.
