just check dimensions as the D-type and the J-types are different height, width and shape Robin

I too missed it, and I'm desperate!

Maybe somebody could start making these new if there is enough demand! (He hints).
Is the extruded channel the same for the other cars such as N-types etc?

I do have a frame but it's in need of a LOT of repairs; having several cracks in it and a lot of spurious extra holes. It's very fragile

Mark you will very likely find that an original frame will not fit on to a replacement or rebuilt body in the correct position. The work involved or compromise in position to get one to fit makes the extra expense of a new frame made to fit your car worthwhile. The correct fit of the frame is such an important item in a J rebuld and in my opinion it s worth going the extra mile to get it right.
Chris Glover at Brasscraft in Farnham can make a frame to fit your car - he does an excellent job. The very first J frame he ever made was the one for my old J3 in 1979. He has made many since.

Just to join in the fun, I have a spare frame, same section as a P type screen, that was modified to fit my C type. It is 34 3/4" wide, 13" high - about 1" taller than a P type, but easily reduced. In good nick - does not need replating. A pair of brackets too, but I think they are Morris 8.
May be some use to someone !

Terry, very many thanks for the headsup on Chris Glover at Brasscraft.

I seem to recall looking at that website a long time ago and decided they were "just" Cobra specialists that probably wouldn't be able to help and didn't pursue the matter!

I will get in touch with them and find out more

Thank you too Peter!

I've just been chatting with Chris Glover at Brasscraft since making my last post here; what a very approachable and helpful man he is!

I will also investigate Wessex Windscreens. I think it's always a good idea to gather as many opinions and options as possible!

EDIT:
just took a look; do you mean Wessex Workshops Ltd?

I have also been in touch with Brasscraft. They are to make me an early windscreen with the vacuum fittings.I was informed that it is essential to make a template of the screen in ply or something similar so that the hinges will work effectively. They were extremely helpful, I was advised to wait until my J2 has its main frame fitted with the brackets before making the template.

Well done Chris.

Perhaps you could let us all know how much it will cost. Wessex once quoted me a king's ransom !
