For those who it may interest, a friend of mine has just completed keying gears onto the shafts of 3 Volumex blowers for me. The shaft to take the drive coupling is also keyed now.
As many of you will possibly know, unlike most pre and post war blowers/ cabin blowers, the gears and drive coupling are keyed onto the shafts. The VX blower is fairly crude however and uses conical split washers and it is only torque which keeps the gears / timing and the drive from slipping, which does occasionally happen especially with pre-ignition during cold start winter months. Tooling is now fully proofed in terms of timing and absolute accuracy to undertake more conversions. Cost is charged at about £250 per unit.
Feel free to email me for further information. I laso have a couple of VX units spare at the moment
